I feel I cannot talk about my favourite films without talking about Studio Ghibli, and I cannot possibly mention just one film. So, here you go.
1. Whisper of the Heart
Not one of the most popular, but since I first watched this film it has always been one of my favourites. It's very sweet, and I think I relate to Shizuku in some ways (except I'm not a 14 year old japanese girl). She studied hard, then gets distracted and drawn in by a different world and of course, a boy. This film features Country Roads, which is a lovely song and I just love The Baron character (as most of us do). It makes me smile.
2. Kiki's Delivery Service
Kiki and Jiji are some of my favourite characters! Kiki is just so cute, independent and determined and Jiji is hilarious. A nice film with a little adventure. Here's my best girl cosplaying as Kiki. She didn't know who she was, but she makes a cute one. I miss this flat.
3. Princess Mononoke
Guh. I love this film, though it breaks my heart watching it. Such a sad story of loss and destruction and fighting for what you love. I'd like to be more like San, I guess. She's an amazing character and I like the fantasy aspect of this film with the demons and spirits alongside the humans. Me cosplaying (badly) as San.
4. My Neighbour Totoro
Because I am a child. What an amazing film this is. Oh to have such an imagination (BUT IT'S REAL!) and let it help you through sad times in your childhood. Full of great characters and obviously a very popular choice. The start of my ghibli tattoo collection.
