1.
I know you’re scared, the girl who dreams
The girl whose life is strife, it seems
The girl who walks to distant shore
In search of somewhere none before
Have seen between the life of seams,
The cracks between the broken dreams
The written lines that sorrow brings
Eternal ending, twilight sings.
2.
I saw you by the light of Moon
The night that always ends too soon
I saw you stand and ask the sea
the crest and wave to set you free
And ask the tide, the rocks ,the spray
To make the daylight stay away
From light and life, in single stride
To make the dark where you reside
3.
And then I saw within your eyes
The beauty of the star-filled skies
And heard a voice with tortured sound
Relinquish choice for ending found
A scream with broken, shattered form
That raised the sea and brought the storm.
That tore the land and broke the shore
Demand Invoke to settle score
4.
And in those eyes, my heart did fall
Here lost to voice in sudden squall
And in that moment, vision clear
The storm, the sea, I did not fear
I saw true nature’s ancient vice
Demanding human sacrifice
And for that love to set you free
I gave myself unto the sea.
5.
Into the waves, descending soul
To seek its end on jagged shoal
To drink to death on breath of salt
And satisfy true nature’s fault
But wind and wave, this angered more.
They threw me back upon the shore
In crash of waves I heard them cry
For you, they would not let me die.
6.
As beach and cliff both rose and fell
With quaking ground and murd’rous swell
Once more I went with future sown
To depths, my soul, my heart, my own.
And leapt from edge into the sea
To dare the storm to conquer me.
To blow the gale and fall the rain
To make me never seen again.
7.
In Water, cold, a sinking stone.
No effort made. No thought of home.
No fear of losing all above
To satisfy impassioned love
I closed my eyes and saw her face
To ready me for distant place
My body numbs. My final breath
My conscience dulls. Embracing death
8.
But seas and storms are not so kind.
In final moment, held my mind
To know the girl upon the shore
Her wish fulfilled, they have in store.
The broken beach, the raging sea
From her, they cry to be set free
They fear the girl, they fear her scream
The end of world that is her dream
9.
So from this deed, they cannot shy
Through hurt and loss they have to try.
This girl who came from distant shore
Has gentle shoreline, wrecked before
In other places, brought her wrath
On screaming ground has wrought her path.
How can the storm not take a stand
For sake and love of verdant land.
10.
To deepest wave I turned anew
And asked what they would have me do.
For both of us desire to calm
the tortured soul that wreaks this harm.
But sea, no answer could relate
And so to surface, forced my fate
To ask the sky the question same
But neither could it, answer frame
11.
Upon a rock, my death delayed
To sea and sky, my challenge made.
That if they cannot answer me
The tortured girl, they should let be
Allow her pain to take its course
Resolve by nature, not by force.
Should calm the sea and clear the skies
And sunrise bring the dawn’s reprise
12.
But then I saw the nimbus tide
Consumed with spite from damaged pride.
With hate for me, defiant sea
A Maelstrom forged to silence me
Cascade of noise and raging sound
In swirling cage I now was found
And in that moment, my resolve
My burden borne: this havoc solve.
13.
By strength of voice I called aloud
To spirit of the Tempest cloud
“Let not the ocean keep me here
When it is I that does not fear
The girl that tears this land apart
To quell the pain inside her heart
If wind and sea, no answer make
Allow me be the chance we take.”
14.
The furious cloud surrounded me
With piecing sight intent to see
Conviction spent or absent faith
Instead releasing darkened wraith
It saw my soul and felt the fear
That all things feel when death is near.
So parting maelstrom’s hateful swirl
My path did forge to shore and girl
15.
Through waters fierce, toward the sand
The tempest power at my hand
I pierced the night, the storm, the sea
And with this power brought to be,
Transforming now, this mortal flask
Becomes a veil of fateful task.
A mask to wear to hide away
And bearable, become the the day.
16.
On fallen knees, her tears wept
As at her hands, the mask was swept
Which spoke to her and soul embraced
As over tears, the mask was placed.
With turning now to face the dawn
New calm was brought to sea and storm
And sought the day like none before
With sunlight caught by moonlit shore.
