Well, this will be an experiment. Let's see if this slow-ass internet connection I have up in Maine will allow me to update...
First.. come.. 'gather round.. I have a story to tell. Some of you may have already heard this, so forgive me. Last sunday I attend my friends wedding in York, PA. It was very nice, indeed, and I figure since I have 600+ miles to drive to get to Maine, I should go ahead and get a couple hundred out of the way that night. A little later, I've driven 100 miles and I'm rollin' down Rt. 84 in the middle of Pennsylvania, jammin' to bone thugs'n'harmony, when all of the sudden my brand new, 2 week old, Honda Accord LX kicks out of cruise control, the engine and oil lights pops on, the car starts losing power and all hell breaks loose. There's a saying I like in wilderness medicine which I think applies to pretty much any panic situation: "Stop and smoke a cigerette." Well, it was 10:00 at night and I was standing in the breakdown lane of the highway, but I don't smoke and didn't have any cigerettes. I probably would've drank some mate if I had hot water.
Anyway, here I'm faced with a debate: I can either try to deal with the car in that situation, call AAA, whatever. Or I can try to get my car to the nearest exit and deal with it there. If I did the latter, I risked destroying my new car, but one of my life-criteria is that I not die in a place like Tamaqua, PA.. so I decided to drive the car. I managed to get it kicking and screaming to the nearest exit where there is the DIIIIIIIINGIEST motel I have ever seen in my life. I decide it's too late to do anything about it, and I should just get a good night sleep and deal with it in the morning.
The next morning I get it towed to the closest Honda dealership located in Wilkes-Barre, PA. As were loading it on the flat bed... we notice a trail of oil coming from the bottom.
The FUCKING oil drain plug FUCKING fell out. It FELL out! THAT was the cause of 12 hours of grief. So anyway, the end of the story is that... I didnt destroy my engine.. and they had me on the road again quickily. 530 miles later I got up to Maine for a few weeks of R&R.
