Ok, finally updating. My trip to Hawaii was fun. We went to Honolulu first. Honolulu surprised me, I didnt realize how big of a city it is. There's this hike at Diamond Head National Park, it's a lil touristy and crowded but it's pretty cool. You drive up into the crater of a volcano and then hike up to the top of it. You can see all of Honolulu. There's a World War II bunker at the top which is a little eerie, like something out of the thin red line (horrible movie, dont see it). On that island i also paddled out to this island called Flat Island. It's really weird. It's a volcanic island but it's like something just sheered the top of off it so it's completely flat. Very cool, pictures to come.
For the second half of the trip, we flew out to Kauai which is BEAUTIFUL. Most of it is very undiscovered. Did a hike on this ledge over the Na Pali coast. You could see miles down the coast in both directions. At the end of the hike was this beach with a weird naked man living in a cave. I figured he was probably some rich kid from Newton, Massachusetts or something. You couldnt swim at the beach. They had a sign saying dont go near the water and it kept a tally of all the people who had been killed trying. It was upto 82. A little sobering.
So that was my trip. The travel back was HORRIBLE. Left the hotel in Kauai at 3pm Hawaiian time and got in 6pm eastern time the NEXT day. Big accident by the airport got me lost in an icky part of philly when i had just been travelling for 20 hours. Blah. But the whole week was great anyway
This week I'm back to work. I've been given 2 weeks to model this thingamagig that learns to hit a target. Best of luck huh?
Leave some messages, i missed you all!
