Ok, my only new years resolution is to start ranting mindlessly via SG blogs again, because other than that I think I've got this life thing pretty nailed.
Most of you that I actually talk to know that I've traveled a lot in the past month and now finally have the chance to catch my breath and settle down for awhile. It's all been good, mind you, but theres only so long one can spend on an airplane and in an airport before one grows tired of it. The San Fran, Newark, Amsterdam, Hamburg and Zurich airports have treated me well, though. Philly--blow me. And yes, I'm from there.
I came back early to California mostly for recreational reasons. In previous years I've come back early in order to get work done. That turned out to be a waste of time. This year I had planned to do a longer backpacking trip on either skis or snowshoes. Didn't really pan out--mostly because of my lack organization. I think I will hop around and do a series of smaller thing this week instead. The plan is to go to some friends' cabin in South Lake Tahoe for New Years (more on this later), spend the rest of the week fishing, then go back to South Lake Tahoe to ski over the weekend. A lot of driving, a lot of carbon into the air... but i think it's work it.
I'm starting to balk a little bit at the NYE plan. Tahoe could be lovely, but for some reason I just hate new years eve. I'm not an anti holidays... I love Thanksgiving and Christmas. I love New Years day football, I just can't seem to get a hard on for New Years. It seems so anticlimactic (the most anticlimactic 10 seconds of the year) and contrived. What can I say? I have a negative reaction to it.
New Years is a chance to look both backwards and forwards, though. So tell me something, either some aspect of '07 that made you happy or something you're looking forward to in '08. Lets keep it positive.
Because blogs suck without a picture, here's a random picture of a kid playing the fiddle at a Christmas market in Winterthur, Switzerland.
And a quote, because I put them in all of my blogs. This doesn't refer to me, really. I just like it.
