OK so I have one more thing to add to my list of goals: I need to learn more about car maintenance and repair.
Because fuck going to the service department at the Nissan dealership. Not because they do a bad job - they do quality work - but because it's just so fucking expensive to pay somebody else to do certain things.
I went in for an oil change and tire rotation today, and they also did a vehicle inspection as a courtesy. They gave me a list of all of the things that need repair in the near future, and parts & labor would be damn near $600 after taxes. They also recommended a more extensive maintenance check that would be another $550 or so, plus whatever it would cost for whatever additional repairs they find out need to be done. Some stuff I'll probably have to let them do, but just doing a little bit of searching on the internet I can already tell that there's a lot of stuff that won't be hard to do myself and would be a lot cheaper. Nissan wants $200 for rear brake pads - I could do it for about $80 tops and a couple of hours of my time. They wanted $120 to find out why my Service Engine Soon light is on - I easily found a procedure on the internet that will allow me to do it myself for free. The list goes on.
I stopped at NFM today after work to browse the furniture section. If you ever want to feel like an adult, shop for furniture. They actually had some pretty nice shit there that I think would fit in perfectly at the new apartment. My first priority is a new bed (threw my old one away back when the ex and I moved in together, been borrowing a futon for the past six months). I am all about a platform bed. King size.

Listen here bud. I can help with a lot of car repairs. I have a fair amount of tools and know other people I could borrow from. Let me know if you need some help.
