tech side...exposed.. when a stranger calls myth..
so i was watching an episode of CSI LV. it was the episode where mr. stokes gets stalked by a guy w/ some emotional issues and doesn't figure out who exactly it is till the end, of course.. anyway, im such a nerd for even noticing this.. but im a phone guy.. that's what i do.. fix em, fight em, splice em.. anyway, im a techy geek when it all boils down to it.. so in this particular episode.. the guy w/ "issues" is a voyeur.. he hides out in the attic of this chicks house at first and sets up camp... he has video cameras setup watching her all the time to make her crazy.. anyway, my point is that he's got a "phone guy" phone.. ya know the one's.. we can pretty much tap into anyones line at anytime and listen to coversations or what not.. i could personally give a shit what anyone is talking about because most of the time im in a huge rush to get someone fixed but at any rate.. you get the point.. when we are on the poles we can tap into ppl's lines and listen.. that's it..
so in this particular episode, they show one of our phones.. granted it's an old school one but they work just the same. that they guy w/ "issues" uses to listen to the girls conversations that he's been stalking. now there's also a big summer movie that came out a while ago along the same lines..
babysitter, alone, strangers house.. stalker keeps calling and tormenting the young hottie about to masterbate when the phones rings.. oh wait.. that's another story.. lol.. my point of all this is that in both cases the "stalker" ends up calling the "stalk-ee" from... you guessed it... INSIDE THE HOUSE .... the police or phone records show that the caller was calling from that same line..
ladies.. this is so false... im a phone guy that knows this shit inside and out and unless there is multiple lines at the same place.. there's no way that someone, even w/ one of us phone guys handy dandy phones, can we call you from your own line.. it's an impossibility.. w/out going into a long boring drawn out description of why let's just say that if someone picks up on your line, it cancels all the other phones attatched to that line.. so even if you could tap into someones line, you can listen.. but that's it.. you can't call the same number, from the same number...
Jesus im a dork but this urban myth has been bugging me forever.. and i wanted to get that off my chest..
