last night PerilsOfBeing and i journeyed with carols_way to atx (if my phone was in working condition i would have called mzshaw). we enjoyed some super spicy veggie heaven and intended to go to amoa for a film discussion/presentation, but right as we arrived, they sold out of tickets. carols_way was able to talk herself in (since she needed extra credit for a class) which left PerilsOfBeing and i free to roam the chilly downtown christmas light lit streets. there is something exciting about cities in the winter. the empty colors and cold concrete compliment eachother.
i bought dave eggers' you shall know our velocity! which i am excited to read.
random quote:
"We debated. Continuing on meant an unknown risk - the place could be swarmed with mosquitos any second - but going back to the car meant that we'd truly done nothing, and we would never do anything. If we couldn't pull off the road and walk through a field to the ocean then we were worth nothing."
coincidentally, dave eggers started mcsweeny's (i was unaware of this before my purchase), which publishes beautiful books of short stories. i thank baby hopf for introducing me to mcsweeny's.
and
this morning as i entered the grocery store, i randomly ran into the elder brandenburger and he invited me to lunch at taco bell. it's weird to see people from back home not back home.
i <3 sundays.
