i didn't wake up in time for class this morning. i had set an online alarm clock on my computer because i left my cell phone with scott, but my computer had decided to shut itself off in the middle of the night. this additional absence prooobably means that i really am going to fail french. but it's whatevs.
i did, however, wake up in time to go to work. hung over and spaced out. conveniently we had our advisory board meeting today. all the members of the newspaper staff dressed for a bussiness casual lunch with industry professionals in each department's related field. i looked/felt like death warmed over. it was pretty awesome though. there were about 50ish of us in this big hall. each department had their own little table. they even ordered tiny vegetarian sandwiches especially for me! which i didn't eat very much of due to my body feeling gross. i sucked down 2 dr peppers like my life depended on it though.
johnathan, lindsey, krystal and i talked to 2 acount execs from the austin business journal for 3ish hours. maaaan. they're banking cash money like crazy. you could just tell from the hint of a smirk on the guy's face when we were asking him about how much he earned, his job benefits, and his hours, etc. he was joking around about how the most important parts of his job were golf and happy hour - but i don't think he was joking very much. they have a base pay of $1000 a month and get 10% commission on everything they sale... and their ads run like $6000 each easy. they were incredibly informative and nice. they gave us their cards and the girl was really implying that they could get us internships. they also said that we could email them our resumes if we wanted them to review them and that if we ever had any questions we could just let them know. i think they are also going to try to get us comp tickets to this business luncheon they're hosting soon.
i also never really thought i would say this, but i love my job. like really. i think i would really enjoy continuing in the advertising field. the people are awesome for the most part (and if the clients suck, you just stop calling them), the work is like an adventure because you are dealing with different businesses and projects everyday, and the money factor doesn't hurt at all. it's like running your own business within a business. i pretty much make my own hours and decide what i'm going to work on every day
it made me excited to go into the work force
(did i just say that?)

Always makes it a pleasure not a chore!
And yea, I remember "The Magic School Bus", although it was to bit too educational for my liking!
Damn education getting everywhere these days!
