So, yeah, today we found out that our apartments are going to be bulldozed. The area has been "rezoned" for super-condos with underground parking. Our apartments are those quiant 60 year old ones with wooden floors and PERSONALITY! They are in a very nice area so we've been able to enjoy a safe quiet neighborhood. Apartments in safe quiet neighborhoods are rare in Dallas.
I found out through a phone call from an old neighbor. We moved to the other side of the complex last year, and I hadn't talked to her since then. She asked me if we were going to move. I thought that was a weird question are told her no. Then she told me about the "neighborhood improvement" plans. After we got off the phone I looked up the minutes from the recent city hall meetings. It was all there.
The apartment managers weren't going to tell us. Basically they were going to keep it a secret, then tell us we had 30 days to get out. It's supposed to happen next year sometime, but that could be January 2007 or December 2007. We'll start looking for a new place now. Me and my husband both are pretty devastated. We love our little home!
