Have deep, real thoughts about solutions. Keep your prayers to yourself. They are nothing but self-medication and do nothing to solve any actual problem - and, while it may often seem impossible to affect the world in any large way, there are always ways to help. If your are close or otherwise able, offer assistance to those in trouble, donate resources. Otherwise, make your voice heard, even if only by a few, by calling out nonsense and offering well thought-out, concrete ideas that contribute to the discussion about a solution. Good ideas propagate if they are presented effectively. Perhaps most importantly vote. Right now, especially in the U.S., money drowns out the voice of the people because to many don't bother voting and in many places politicians are making it harder to do.
We can't afford any more cop-outs and excuses. The world is too dangerous and relying on "God's plan" or "thoughts and prayers" is equivalent to doing nothing. The 'End Times', whose approach so many seem to revel in, do not need to be a self-full filling prophecy!
