Since the magical date of September 11,2001, the financial gods have threatened inflation, recession, depression and the overall fall of the U.S. economy. They're threatened, but because they get paid to talk about it and it doesn't really affect them, they love scaring everyone. I've already blogged about how scare tactics are used to make of gullible Americans feel guilty.

I've been saying for years now, we are in a recession, but no one wants to believe me. 2002 is the year the shit hit the fan. Why would I say that, other than the obvious. I had a good job until 2002, and like that it was gone. 2002 was the year that companies started cutting back. Since then, CEO's are making out like bandits with mega bonuses, while companies are going to the shitter. I've had a debate over bonuses with a friend and I'm still right. But a bonus is rewarded if things are going good. Just because the company is still intact is not a bonus. If a company is hemorrhaging money, than no one deserves a bonus. Even raises should be questioned. I've worked for places that not getting a raise because the company wasn't doing good is real. It wasn't like 'Our company lost millions but because you're still here, we're going to give you a raise'. It's more like,'We don't have any money, so you're not getting any'.

It's amazing how dumb this country is getting and how fast it's happening. You can read 1 day what jobs are going to do well during a recession, then read another article the next day that says the opposite. I'll give you an example, I read 1 article that said media jobs are on the rise, photographers, video, etc. I'm like great, that's my field. Then the next day an article says if your company needs to save money, then cut back on things that cost, like human resources and marketing/advertising. Media usually falls under Marketing/Advertising. I'm guessing the media they're talking about is finding some schmuck and getting lucky that they become an internet star and you're the genius behind it.

Most Americans have no idea how the finance system works. I'm sure most people in finance don't know what they're doing, especially the way the economy is headed. Dropping the interest rates, not going to help the economy. Giving even more of a tax refund, not going to help the economy. This just digs it deeper into the hole. The problem boils down to this: The U.S. doesn't export anything, we're a consumer society, our GNP is 70% consumer spending. When that goes, we're fucked. Oh wait, we are. When they lower interest rates, that just makes the dollar weaker. We give countries all over the world aid that we'll never recoup. Who bails us out, China. They have trillions invested in the US and now it's worth $400 Billion less than when they loaned it to us. If they wanted their money, we're even more screwed.

If you don't believe how bad the dollar is doing, watch this, it's not long, but scary:

Bueller, Bueller, wake the fuck up. Stick to comedy. Everyone thinks they're a pundit now. It seems if your face is on tv, you can be a pundit now. I get scared when I see actors/actresses who's political voice is being taken seriously. I'm not saying all thespians are dumb. Natalie Portman went to Harvard, but then again Pres. Bush gradiated from Yale. Doesn't mean you're smart. I can never take Sean Penn seriously, he's fucking Jeff Spicolli. Ben Stein, besides Bueller's teacher, hocked Visene, hhhmmm. Plus he was a writer for Nixon, so he knows how to bullshit people.
When the most honest news reports are The Daily Show and The Colbert Report, it's hard to believe anything else.

Don't believe what you see on tv. We are in a recession, just ask all the people who lost their houses or who are out of work and can't get a temp. co. to call them back.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, if you have a job, even if you hate it, keep it as long as you can. I'm not holding my breath that this will get better.

I have thank Fr. Bruce for this one. It's a documentary on stupidity:
