Just finished working 5 days in a row after being off for a week. It was pretty crazy. We had our second busiest day of the month on Thursday. I was considering working 3 whole days (8AM - 10PM) this week, but after the past 5 days, I think I'll pass. We had some crazy people come in. I had 2 people say that they didn't want to hold on the phone. I just told them I had another customer so they will have to wait. They both ended up hanging up. I also had a 10 minute debate with a guy about how he thinks people should be required to show their ID when they pick up their medications. I explained to him that people cannot always pick up their own medications and requiring them to do so would be an inconvenience to most people. I told him that he would have to talk to a senator or something in order to get some law passed requiring that. So, then, he was asking me who exactly to talk to! These people are just ridiculous!
Yesterday, one of our patients came in and was talking about his wife, who is in the hospital. She had a stroke on Thursday and also broke her leg. He wanted us to hold all of her meds cause she probably won't be coming home... So sad. I'm going to go by the store and get a card and have all the pharmacy people sign it so we can send it to him.
We also had a bit of excitement yesterday. This lady came in complaining of an allergic reaction to some antibiotic she was given at Kaiser after she had some surgery on Thursday. She clearly had a rash on her arm, so I took her out to the Benadryl section and was going to give her a box when she got all dizzy and sat down on the floor. I ended up calling 911 for her. The EMT and a fire truck showed up pretty quick and gave her some injection and stayed with her for a while. She eventually got better and ended up coming back to the pharmacy to buy some Benadryl just in case. Crazy!
Well, happy Monday!
