Tastelessness
Imagine if the only way you could perceive the world around you was through taste. Imagine that in the stead of 5 senses you had but one.
Imagine.
Imagine experiencing everything that life has to offer through taste, imagine tasting happiness, sadness, anger, extasy
Imagine tasting love, life, death, birth
Imagine how all these things would taste to you if taste were your only sense, your only perception, your only reality.
Now imagine loosing your ability to taste
Imagine no longer being able to taste love, life, happiness, birth
Imagine the things you would be left with, the things that would torment you, sadness, anger, hate, death
I sometimes feel as though I have lost my ability to feel life around me, that all my senses have gone and that the very memory of things such as love, happiness, and birth just fade into darkness, and I am left with only the darkest remainders such as anger, hate, sorrow, pain, loneliness and death.
To bite into an apple and not taste its bitter-sweetness
To wrap my arms around you and not feel your warmth
To stand in front of a beautiful waterfall without hearing its roar
To stare out at the ocean without seeing its vastness
To inhale the air around you but not smell your magnificent scent
These are the things I fear.
