NOFX was a blast. Took the 3 hour drive down to SLC by myself and had a really great time. NUFAN opened and was a good fun time. NOFX came out by insulting all the mormons, continued to do so throughout the show along with every other religion. The third song into the set was The Decline. It was a great crowd and an unbelievable show and one of the funnest times I've had in a long time. The band apparantly wrote a song about SLC that very day and it was a seriously good song.
I will argue to the last that Fat Mike is a good bass player, despite what everyone says, including Fat Mike. The Danelectro, a cheap and ugly guitar, in my opinion has a good sound and I am looking into getting one for myself.
NOFX was a few weeks ago, Thrice came to SLC last week. Thrice put on a good show, such an impressive band. That is a band who really has things figured out, very precise, very on point. Their new music trumps anything out there now and anything the band has done before. The Alchemy Index EPs are great, very progressive songs. The crowd that night was not so good, during each and every slow/technical/electronic/piano song the band performed, the kids in the crowd would talk over the band, they were texting and talking on their phones and some were complaining shouting for the band to play their early heavier poppier songs. That part of the show was a total bummer because those songs are beautiful. The lighting was amazing, things I have never seen before. Thrice is a band to pay attention to.
I missed Mike Ness yesterday and Im seriously upset about that. How often does Mike Ness tour? Never! Freaking SmithsTix.com wouldnt let me get a ticket. They didnt answer on Sunday or Monday, I assume because of the holiday, I got screwed.
On the lighter side of things, Tiger Army is this Saturday with The Street Dogs I think as openers. This will be the 4th or 5th time seeing Tiger Army, if I can get a ticket that is...
