I dont know what to read now that i finished No Country For Old Men. Im considering The Crossing which is another Cormac McCarthy novel. or a lighter read, Naked by David Sedaris. Ive also wanted to reread Heart of Darkness by Conrad, which would be a short read. Then again I could start over The Age Of Reason by Thomas Pain for a really heavy read, or an even heavier read by Brian Greene, the Elegant Universe, which i started but had to stop and process... I dont know, ive been really restless lately and cant make up my mind. I think even if i did choose a book i wouldnt have the concentration to sit down and read it anyway.
A good thing today has been my song writing. Ive had these 4 particular guitar parts rattling around inside my head for the last little while now, and today i made all the parts into full songs. also i began the writing for two of them which are headed in the right direction. the one song is tentatively titled Glue and Tape and is so far based around the line "The world that we live in and The way things ought to be." the song has shaped itself into a part folk part old country, rebellion song, something that is new to me but came quite naturally.
The other song has started from an older piece ive had, a sort of alice in the wonderland i envision. the new writings have been revolving around the verse "quicker and quicker as the blood flows through, and the stars fall from the sky, the falling stars, they hurt my lungs, from the dust the stars left behind." ive wanted to put that piece to music for a long time now and it seems like its working out...so far.
