To start with, it seems I will be going to the next MFC event in January 2015. Apparently it will be at The Palms hotel in the old Playboy suite, so it will be great to see even more of Vegas and possibly some familiar faces.
For my birthday I ended up doing what I had planned, a tour of a brewery I like with my Parents, brother and his girlfriend. After the tour was a sampling of course and it was a nice reminder of how much I like their blueberry beer, but I can't really drink beer much anymore if I want to stay is some sort of shape. After that we went to a nearby restaurant and had a late lunch. I made up the idea of trying something new on my birthday, and had a little-neck... I admit I will probably never eat one of those again. I guess I prefer fried seafood instead of... slimy.
The next day I took a thirty four mile bicycle ride as I had planned since I wanted to be certain that turning 34 was no reason to slow down on my life. I did it fairly easily, but of course was sore the next day, I hope to do another long ride before it starts getting much colder though I have been getting warmer clothes to cycle in. I did a decent ride yesterday to visit my friend and event went as far as my parents house too. I guess it was partially to get myself motivated for the 4 Bridges ride I'll be doing this weekend. It's going to be about the same distance I rode yesterday, except I will be going over bridges with what I can only guess is a large group of other cyclists.
I've also had some good days with my friend who works at the grocery store, a few weeks back we got some coffee at the local cafe and sat there looking out over the water. It was just one of those times where I felt sort of happy and at ease for once. More recently I saw her this past Tuesday, she had asked me to be some moral support for my towns court house. She was given a speeding ticket and if you show up at court they will reduce the fee if you have a decent driving record. It's a small town and the entire procedure felt at least a little silly to me, but I am sure she was glad I was there and I did tell her it would be fairly easy to do. Turned out the hard part was simply waiting to be called up just to state your case, but once she was called it was over with within minutes, she paid the lesser amount and we were done and gone.
After that we went to get some food and coffee nearby, we shared some sort of spinach cheese thing that was fairly good AND a celebratory bar that was made of much sweetness and chocolate. Before we went back to my apartment (where she parked her car, I was driving) I drove the route she could go to get to the highway easier. It's easier for her to actually see which way to go then trying to visualize it looking at a map so I figured I'd offer.
All in all it turned what was a nervous day for her into a more pleasant one, I then got to see her again on that long ride I took yesterday and she got to go on a break so we could sit outside for a bit and chat. She mentioned being around my area tomorrow but we will see, I was honestly surprised she mentioned it considering I'd seen her twice this week but as always I am fairly happy she at least mentioned the idea.
On the grander scale, my brother is now engaged! He planned it so it would be on stage on her birthday during one of his improve shows with a group of guys he knows. She didn't seem to know what was coming thankfully and everything went well after that. That won't be happening till next year but I am sure I will hear about it over and over until then. -_-
Cripes more changes, I am also following a weekday vegetarian diet which I have been doing for I think over a month now. It's part to help lose weight and part to feel a little better about environmental damage and factory animal slaughter/waste. And it hasn't really been that hard to do in my own life, but it's different when you go out to eat at a restaurant which does say something significant about the American diet.
Haven't been lifting heavy things as often though, tweaked my arm and will have to see a doctor before I feel it will be safe to do again.
