Before we ran out to make groceries, I printed out the last of my term papers. I am not done, for real. I just have to drop them off, which I'll do on Tuesday. I think they all turned out pretty good. The first one is maybe the weakest, but when finishing off the last two, I found a good bit to say that was mine or borrowed from stuff Tara said. In both cases, I think I said something fairly novel, as opposed to just a more detailed and insightful analysis of my source material.
Last night, we met some of the grad students for drinks because it was someone's birthday. We had fun, but I got hated on for being finished already. I learned at UBC that I have a better time if I get to work early, spread it out over the last month of the semester, and turn it in as soon as possible. I just don't like the idea of taking an incomplete just because I wasn't finished in time (with no extenuating circumstances). The last minute thing seems to work for some people, but I like staying up until 4am smoking dope, watching movies, or reading, not writing papers that I could have written earlier. The sooner I finish, the more time I get to goof off without having to think about an unfinished project and a rapidly approaching deadline. Don't hate the player, hate the game.
On the car front, my grandfather offered to buy me a car since things didn't work out with the Neon. I really wasn't expecting it, and I certainly didn't ask for it. I'm glad to not have to worry about it now. He tried to find me a truck so we can do more with Tara's paintings, but there's wasn't one there, so he just got me car about the same size as the Lumina (which got picked up from the street today). So, tomorrow, we're heading to LaPlace to get it, handle the title transfer and everything. It will be nice to have our own car again. I'm not keen on driving rentals or my mum's car.
Yule is approaching, meaning I need to get gifts for certain people. Maybe do that tonight.
