When the band was all together yesterday, I didn't practice, mostly because I needed to get some work done on a paper. Today, I took some advice from Damien and spent about an hour working on scales and just playing around, trying to really get comfortable with the instrument. It's something of a challenge, really. Scales are more rewarding than I've heard some people give them credit. I like gaining the ability to pick up the pace on something really simple, especially once I see the pattern. I mostly worked on major scales for E and F. The pads of fingers hurt which is to be expected.
I also got a good bit of school work done today. I finished the aforementioned paper, other than some revision work, and I forced myself to read the first three chapters of book Gamma of the Metaphysics. Of all of my classes, I think I enjoy that class the most despite the amount of trouble I've had with the reading. The professor is very good at bringing out the text, so I understand it once she's gone through it. I just have trouble with it when I'm on my own.
Then, we got bored and walked to Walgreens to see if they had any decent Krispy Kreme donuts in the case. They did, so we walked home and ate them. I'm feeling tired now, but I don't know how I want to finish out my night. My fingers hurt too much to go right back to the bass, and I'm not sure if I want to read anything just now. I suppose I'll figure it out soon enough.

can you feel the sutures of the bones in your skull slowly trying to shift apart to accomodate your expanding intellect?
I love how philosophy is like having a brain orgasm...
that strange warm throbbing sensation that you get in your head when you just barely start to grasp some obscure concept for a split second...
and how it taunts you...
coming and going...
you feel it lurking just around the corner...
oh wait...
there it is again...
MMMmmMMMmmmmmMMMmmMMMmm
here i go again....
... sorry... i've gone off on a bit of a tangent, haven't I
