We move on Thursday due in no small part to the efforts of some members of the gaming group willing to supply a pickup truck and some muscle. if anyone else wants to help out, call me cell. If you don't know my number, comment and I'll call or email you.
That being said, anyone who doesn't want to help but who does want to see the new place (and us), feel free to drop by Thursday night as we celebrate finishing the move with some alcohol and such. If you need to know where the new place is, follow the drill above.
We brought a few more boxes in today and decided to do some grocery shopping. This is the first time we'll be moving into an apartment which already has a well-stocked kitchen. In that respect, this gradual process has been good. Unfortunately, Cox can't send anyone out to install internet service until August 5, so we won't have consistent online access for about a week. The good news is that we're close to a number of cafes and coffee shops which have wifi, and I've got a laptop, so we can at least check our email and such once a day for the price of a cup of coffee. I don't have anything urgent coming up for school anyway, so internet access can wait.
I did pick out a few classes for next semester without talking to the grad adviser. I know I need a supervisor soon, but it seems that the grad adviser is out of his office for summer, so it can't be too urgent. I won't start on my dissertation stuff for a little bit anyway.
It mostly feels like we don't live here anymore, that we live at the new apartment. Spending the nights here is a bit more weird because of that, but i'm not concerned since we'll be in the new place soon enough. My parents just don't get that I don't feel at home here anymore. I didn't feel at home here for about a year before moving out, and living on my own for eight years has only reinforced that. It's not really a sticking point because they can't stop me from moving out, and they don't seem to want to (with the exception of my mother, who's another story altogether). It's just an odd point of miscommunication.
