I now only have one application left. The to-do list in my reminder app looks pretty spare now. I suppose that means I need to start preparing the lecture for my TA class since that item has crept up to "second-most urgent." I feel fairly tired, I think due to spending all weekend grading papers for Intro to Moral Theory. I find it easier to grade papers for this class than my Indian philosophy classes, mostly because I have a better grasp on the material and the students say far more ridiculous things. The Indian philosophy classes (and the medieval philosophy class I TA'ed before that) were also 300-level courses. Moral theory is a 200-level course, meaning there are some freshthings and a large number of non-majors. I didn't have to enforce a bell curve, they fell into it themselves.
I don't really care too much about the election results here. No, I don't like the Conservatives at all, but they have won a minority government in which every other party stands a good bit more left than they do. I don't see the NDP getting into bed with them on either social or economic issues, and I think the same goes for the Liberals and the Bloc (with a bit more bend possible on the Liberal side). I imagine that the Conservatives will find their more radical agendas reined in by the rest of Parliament. Multi-party systems can come in handy for maintaining the status quo, and I'm ok with the status quo here for the most part. I do think the TAZ we've got going in Vancouver has moved into a more fragile position (not that it's completely autonomous anyway, but with respect to the things we like to do, it suffices). However, the T stands for "temporary," so it just means we need to stay on the lookout and get ready to change when we need to.
I feel pretty burned out at the moment. At least I have tomorrow off, so I can decide that I've done enough work for today and chill out the rest of the night. Maybe read a little more Nietzsche. I'd like to quote some here, but I don't find him terribly good for brief quotes. I'd need to pull out a paragraph or else the context falls apart and the meaning shifts entirely.
However, from memory, I produce this: "Man is a bridge between ape and Uebermensch" from Zarathustra, of course.
Enough for now. Remember, the aesthetic choices you make today determine everything significant about your life. Don't tell a bad story.
