Happy Festivus to all who celebrate it.
We don't actually intend to celebrate it, we have Yule to shield us from xmas. However, I do find myself amused that a company has started to sell aluminum poles. Does anyone who read this journal do anything for Festivus? The Airing of Grievances actually seems like a healthy activity, something that prevents a large amount of built-up bullshit. You just have to have the metaphorical nuts to be able to take it as well as you dish it out, and not feel too bad over losing friends or not speaking to other people for a couple of weeks. I kinda think that a friendship which can't withstand a bit of truth doesn't qualify for my "worth a lot of time/energy" list. I have a feeling not everyone thinks the same, but c'est la vie.
We saw King Kong last night. I was impressed, especially at the nods to the original and the more realisitc portrayal of the time period. My only real complaint was Jack Black's character. He seemed a bit uneven, motivated by entirely different things at different times, without a single character emerging to give it structure. Despite that, I found the final line still well-delivered and powerful. I want to see the original again because it's been a while.
