Had a rather crazy end to my week with Wednesday, Thursday and Friday all proving to be rather boozy but then made up for this with a quiet weekend at home with my family. All a little too boring to comment on so shall take the advice of someone and write about a time past but oh-so-much-more significant in my life tapestry....
There is a certain type of tree which grows near mangroves and drops leaves which burn to the touch and apples which would kill you in minutes should you bite into them. It was through these deadly orchards that we made our way barefoot, and walking over powdery white sand. Through the labyrinthine mesh of roots and trunks and past pools and streams we eventually came to the light.
The light blinded us as we emerged and climbed the bank before looking at the turquoise shallows of the mighty Pacific. The water was calm and relatively warm due to its shallowness. We picked our way around marine iguanas warming themselves in the morning sun before they would be fully charged to face the day. We stripped naked (or in the case of those a little more shy, nearly naked) and splashed ungracefully into the water.
The water shimmered with fish almost all the way to the shore and we swam in-expertly around the multi-coloured creatures (having to share goggles to see the damn things). The afternoon hit us before we were ready. Sun and sea had taken their toll on us as we slept on banks of sand in between flamingo-full lagoons of the craziest blues I have seen.
The blue bikini was the first thing I saw. I had walked off to watch some flamingoes and other water-birds sip the tepid waters for microscopic foods in one of the larger lagoons. The girl knew I was not supposed to have 'relations' with 'clients' but she also knew I fancied the knickers off her.
The knickers came off relatively quickly and I can honestly say that making love in the warm shallow waters of a lagoon on a small Galapagos island is one of the best moments of my life.
