Title: Thou shalt not...
Here is what I shalt not do:
-Harm my roommate
-Scream at anyone
-Harm my roommate
Raven tends to try and monopolize my time and my computer. Granted, I have enjoyed the Black Adder episodes he has shown, but every time I want to get into some serious, hardcore writing, he tries to either talk to me, get me to play some game, or wants to watch anime on my computer. Since I have my computer set up in our living room, I rather ask for it *L*. However, I find that I spend more time in my room playing Nintendo so that I get some alone time.
He seems miffed that I want him to be quiet sometimes, or that I am less active than he is. But instead of honouring and respecting that, he tries even harder. And when I explain it to him in plain english that the more he tries the more I want to tell him to f**k off, he'll admit that it makes him try even harder to get me involved in anything.
*SIGH* A good man, but he should really let me spend my free time my way. If I want to watch Black Adder, or if I want to write a novel, then I should be able to do so without his input. And if it means he won't be able to play a round of Starfleet Battles or watch the latest annoying, pop influenced anime music video, then so be it. Tough shit for him.
Oh well, I expected such trials from my friend. And he can be nice at times. He cooks, and sometimes I do have fun with those games. But not so damn many of them please!!!!!!
Ok, rant over.
The past few days have been rather uneventful. My birthday went somewhat well. I was miserable before, but Raven did some nice stuff for me, so its all good. Parents gave me their greetings, as did my brother and sister back in Saskatchewan.
They are all doing better than me at the moment. My brother frequently travels to Indiana to pick up campers, then takes them back to Canada. A boring job it sounds, but it's better than mine. My sister on the other hand sells fashion accessories on e-bay, such as Chanel handbags and all that tripe (real and fake, though the fact that she handles the real stuff is quite amazing). I thought at first that her idea was going to be a royal boondoggle, but it turns out that she's making enough to quit her day job. And my parents new business is their most successful ever.
Why do I feel like a bad luck lightning rod? I leave my family, and all the sudden everything is hunky dory? What the hell?!? I wish I didn't feel this jealous, or this ripped off considering I had a huge debt over an education through reasons only human resource lackies know is being unused. Yet my sister flunked college, my brother goes through a two year degree, and they're doing a-ok.
*SIGH* I should be happy for them. But its hard to when I'm not happy with my situation. How selfish.
But worry not. Since my family has a history of thriving on get rich quick schemes and pie in the sky dreams, I shall make one myself. In fact, a couple of nights ago I came up with a scheme while I was moping. I passed by a clothing store, of all things, and saw to my surprise videogame related appearal. Not new stuff, but a shirt with an old Nintendo controller. Then a shirt with a goomba from Mario. Then I passed by electronics boutique and saw retro Nintendo shirts for twenty bucks a pop.
Retro videogames have slowly grown as a fad over the past few years. Now, it just might be peak time to jump on the retro gaming bandwagon. But how?
I thought of old systems, such as Atari's, Nintendo's, Sega Master Systems, Turbo Graphx 16's, Colecovisions, etc... At this point, they aren't going to depreciate in value because they're as dirt cheap as they are going to get. Getting an inventory of retro systems will be a problem however.
I also thought of expanding to arcade machines. It's fashionable to have a classic machine in the den. And to maybe restore it, or put new wood panels on old frames to give them a new look, or even hire an artist to give the arcade machines those old school 'arcade' looks.... well... could work.
I'll brew about it for awhile.

i'm a hugh sci fi fan myeself- just trying to change the mood for a bit- write something real for a change. although you're right- barry's case does leave room for much mystery...
but hey- the story is open and i stand by the game's rules- you do what you have to do- dont limit yourself!
