Title: Can't sleep. Clown Will Eat Me...
I cannot sleep for the life of me. I revised my resume. Couldn't sleep. Played some Red Alert 2 (and still stuck on that level). Couldn't sleep. Stared at the ceiling while I plotted the storyline for my epic. Couldn't sleep.
Help? Any suggestions. I'm open to them.
But anyways, my roommate Raven and I played a game of Star Trek: Starship Tactical Combat Simulator (an old FASA game that kicks ass). I whupped him. That's two in a row for me!
Today, Raven wants to take me to a temp agency, seeing as how miserable I am at my current job. With my resume revamped and updated, I should have some better luck. But i'm so rusty at some of the skills I learned in college. I hope I can still do it! I'll have to. I don't want to be a janitor forever.
Going to visit my parents on the 10-15th of March. They are coming back from a trip to Arizona, and they want to see me. I'll be a broke kid for two months, considering Greyhound tickets cost a fair penny, and i'll miss a couple day's wages. But at least I get to visit home for the first time in over a year. I do miss home sometimes.
Who knows? Maybe i'll even get a better job. Then that way, I won't be so worried about what i'll tell my parents when I get back. Though they are understanding of my plight, I can still sense the anxiousness and worry about my employment situation. I can understand this. I think they expected me to be much more than a janitor, as did I. And since my brother isn't doing much better, and my sister doing well despite not having a degree, the pressure is two fold!
Let's hope for the best! Victory!
I also did some thinking as well. Because of the less than recent slide in IT and technology, I thought perhaps I should forge my own trail. Forget going to those glass parapets downtown. They don't want me, or anyone else that badly, unless it's to clean the rugs. It'll be another 10-20 years until the baby boomers are all cleared out and there will be room for me made. Therefore, I can either get lucky or do drone jobs until that time, or I can go my own way.
I wanted to become a writer. That's not what I trained for in college. However, I am told that I have a talent for it. Therefore, I will give it a try. I'll be looking for any writing contests, publishers, groups, anything that can either train me or get me an opportunity.
So, while I do a job to make ends meet, I will be working on my hobby and passion, hoping and trying to make it work enough so that I will not have to work 9 to 5. That is my path. Instead of letting the world determine what I can or cannot do, I will do whatever I can, while devising another path to suckerpunch fate when it isn't looking.
Sorry God, time to defy destiny.

vulcan greetings to ya. nice to see you are back. loving that 5 minute poetry thread you started. if i may offer the best thing to do is write regularly, say 1500 words a day everyday, write about anything and everything. maybe you know "dat" already. you are spot on with the job to make ends meet. being a janitor means you get to do a lot of people watching in the 3d? i never lived up to my fathers expectations, in the end i told him to go fuck it. not that iam advising you do the same, all situ are different. but yeah, fuck the 9-5, fuck working for the beast, work for yourself, in time success will come. jt leroy started out sucking cock for a living, and look where he is now. (sucking cock for a living) ho ho what a wag i am. seriously though go for it dude. no regrets
Thanks for the tip.
More to come on the way.
