It's a cliche, sure, but I still wonder: When people look back on the '90s, will it seem to them like the '20s seem to us?
People think that the market crashed in October 1929. But it didn't; it stumbled over a few weeks around that time, and then steadily declined. Kind of like it has over the past three years.
When they talk about the bust, will the talk about the dot-bomb, like most of us do, or the tech crash, like some of us do -- or will they indentify the cause of the really catastrophic collapse, the Telecom crash? If the telecom sector hadn't crashed, would everything be hunky-dory right now? And since they were the fartheest out there into New Economy fantasyland, couldn't we argue that they were responsible for the whole damn bust?
