This weekend, while it had much potential to be fun and relaxing, was actually quite horrifying. Stopped at my parents' house to see them off on their 25th anniversary RV trip out west (they're gone for three weeks) and pick up their dog DJ before heading out to my sister's. However, the plans weren't finalized with my sister, I guess.
Lots of drama. My sister, just for brief background, is bipolar. I know how she responds to most things. For reasons unknown to me, she stopped taking her medication. So when my mom called to say Jon and I would be heading out with the dog, Karen unleashed some fury. "Fuck you, fuck the family, I hate all of you, etc etc etc." It was absolutely horrible.
Now my sister does not have the best relationship with my parents, so it was probably more of a "straw that broke the camel's back" type situation, but I got strung into the middle. After Karen hung up, I get to see the fury of my parents unleash. My mom is bawling, my father is hurling keys and dog carriers around the kitchen and the back yard, yelling like you wouldn't believe. In fact, you might have heard him...Friday night? Around 9pm? Angry man yelling loudly.
I think both parties were a little out of line, although I was more upset at being in the middle and the fact that my sister didn't even care that she sent my parents off on their freakin anniversary trip feeling like they were hated and horrible parents. As usual, I am the comforter and the psychologist. Not so fun. I wanted to scream and cry myself.
So the Renaissance Festival was awkward and tense. Weren't even there two hours before leaving. (The one highlight was Jon winning the strength game, where you hit this thing with a hammer and see if you are strong enough to hit the bell. He is, and it was cute!
)
So we didn't even stay at my sister's and ended up coming back to my parents' empty house to relax and do laundry. Probably the highlight of my weekend. Jon was excellent the whole time, comforting me when I cried, hugging me when I needed it, etc. I thank him for what's left of my sanity this weekend.
We will be heading back to BG tomorrow around 6am -- it will be quite a long day. Give me some love.

I am sorry your weekend was not as it was planned. I am happy that Jon is strong both physically and mentally.
It may be a long day, but it will be good (for me) when you come back.
On the positive side Miranda and Carrie won Emmy's. Yay.
And of course, always, you have my love.
