i hate having to go to class all the time, and do assignments like stupid lab reports....and yet i want to be a teacher...anyone else see anything odd there? i want to teach high school biology and chemistry...but i've decided that i'm going to run my classes more like a college classroom than a high school one....i mean think about it, for 12 years you go to school 5 days a week, 8 hours a day (in most of the us anyways) and then you're in college and all of a sudden your classes meet twice a week, most people don't have classes every day, and half the time the teachers don't even notice if you're in class....homework isn't that important and you're completely dependent on tests and essays/lab reports....and we wonder why so many people do poorly their first semester in school....but i'm going run my classes more like college classes so that the kids i teach will be at least marginally more prepared for the classroom environment....homework with be voluntary and ungraded unless you're failing the tests, classes won't be mandatory unless (again) you're failing the tests...and if you are doing well it is your responsibillity to choose when to come to class and to make sure that you're there to take the tests and do the labs...i think we need to treat high schoolers more like adults, especially now when so few people act with personal responsibility and maturity...the worst thing we can do is baby the people who are going to be in charge....if we treat 16 year olds and 17 year olds like adults, they'll be forced to act like adults, or fail....more than anything else i just want to get a big loudspeaker that everyone can hear and just say "quit coddling them!"
i'm so sick and tired of seeing some kid, who just got their license, still in school, and don't have any kind of job driving around in a $30,000 car, wearing designer clothes, with a $500 phone, and anything else they want....it makes me sick, because the rest of us, who don't have rich mommies and daddies that give us everything have to work so fucking hard just to stay on top.....i mean seriously, what the fuck?

And that rant of your's also pisses me off to no end. I hate that I now have to work 2 jobs just to take one day of classes at community college when I was accepted to Harvard while the mental case son of the rich parents is bought a place at any school they want.
