there are a lot of dogs in alaska. i mean really what a great place to be a dog. my dog was a puppy in portand, oregon, and i moved him up here when he was about a year, and a half old. there is always a dog barking somewhere, and when my dog goes outside it's usually him.
last night after i got home from work, i let him out, and went in to get ready for bed. i brushed my teeth, put my pajammas on, and was just sitting down to read when i realised something was wrong. my big black bark machine wasn't making any noise.
not only was he quiet, but he hadn't barked even once.
so, i went to the window to check on him. in the far corner of the yard sitting in the snow was my rotweiler. he was facing north, and looking up at the sky. i looked up, to see what he was seeing, and there was a rippling ribbon of green light in the sky. the northern lights are such an amazing natural accurance. a good display will even keep my dogs mouth closed it's so beautiful.
