Yesterday was great, my bro twichy dragged me to see Munly & the Lee Lewis Harlots at the High Dive. The subject matter of the first song surprised the shit out of me. It consisted of a man punching a woman in the belly forcing an abortion, I think, I'll have to check out their lyrics in more depth sometime. Only GG and The infamous Wild Man Fischer have the guts to cover that scary of subject material, their singer Munly looked totally possessed during that first song. I think most of the hipsters were to Coked out pay attention to the lyrics he was singing any ways. I'm very happy that the new winter fashion has killed all the faux cowboys try to cop the Americana look. I'm sure a lot of hipster assholes were mocking me behind my back with- that's so last month. I'm a truckers son from Golden so, the western shirt ain't an act honey. Plus I find the new Hipster look hilarious- most of crowd looked like Harry Potter extra's with Jet's hairstylist working over time, and these people expect me to take them seriously! I have to admit I do run into some of my favorite velvet mafia fiends at the High Dive good deal of the time, but shit none of my favorite faggots were around yesterday. I'm glad I didn't go to clubs like Hi-Dive when I was twenty one, I couldn't have handled it. I was to sensitive when I was young, would have taken most the peoples attitude personally, may be that is why I was such a violent booze hound. I equate the aloof too cool hipster to boring mother fuckers, with a couple of notable exceptions. But I'm much older and wiser now, I'll be damned if some bland over dressed bores are going to stop me having a good time. The Harlots where in top form. Munly commanded the stage from the front of the stage sitting in chair. Fuck the whole set he looked like a Modern junked out Butch Cassidy. When Munly sung he howled like a man with devils tearing at his insides, and when the music stopped, he stared blankly out into the crowd with a vacant blank gaze that matched the vacant glaze of the shell shocked Vietnam veterans I use to ride the rails with. Them he'd lurch right back into a song like he was trying to howl satan right out of his stomach. I was very impressed. And the Harlots OH GOD THE HARLOTS- The Harlots played the perfect yin to Munly's yang, the ladies delicate sorrowful voices complimented Munlys growl perfectly. They sounded like lost angels pulled into a swirling vortex of conficting emotions- beauty, pain, redemption and doom. -I'll finish later, must edit. must edit and finish.
