So I spoke to some guy who runs an organic farm in Vermont today about a job posting. "Well, you seem very OVERqualified for what we're looking for," says he. Ha. If you had told me I'd ever be working on a farm to keep paying the bills when I was graduating from college five years ago, I would have laughed at you and poured your beer over your head. Considering my bizarre work situation, in which I need to hang on to my part-time radio gig for professional reasons, this gig could fill my daytime hours and I can easily slip away from it in the fall. It might not be a bad gig logistics wise, although the pay obviously isn't fantastic. I wouldn't mind working outdoors just for the hell of it, and maybe it will provide an interesting chapter/footnote in my as-yet-unwritten life story.
While I love summer, this one has sucked for me and I honestly can't wait until fall when the true, full-time "professional" me is back in the saddle ready to get started with another season of broadcasting ski reports. I'll hear back from the farmer dude early next week, apparently.
All this week there have been tree crews right in front of my apartment, cutting down trees and pruning others. All of a sudden I notice that through my large living room window, there is now more light coming in, which is a welcome change in this drab apartment. Unfortunately it looks like a dump outside, or better yet, like a hurricane blew through and took care of some serious forestry business.
If you're a Todd Rundgren fan, trust me, his new CD "Liars" is his BEST in thirty years. Get it, and tell your friends.
