I've boldly gone where I've never gone before musically. I've been known as a rap/hip-hop hater my entire life and I've never had any apologies when it comes to this matter.
After weeks of debating and deliberating and considering... I did it.
I went to the rap section, pulled out a copy of "Speakerboxxx/The Love Below" and paid hard-earned cash for my first ever CD in the hip-hop/rap/modern R&B section, whatever Borders likes to call it.
I took a shine to the song "Hey Ya" instantly, and as a result I went on a big Earth Wind and Fire tear, listening to nothing but EWF for a few weeks. I hear so much of EWF's influence on this album it's no surprise they were on the same stage the other night at the Grammys (missed it.)
I'm only a handful of listens into this album but it defies categorization and it's a bold piece of work in an stick-to-yer-guns era where bold doesn't cut it anymore.
I skied Gunstock NH yesterday for the first time. I expected a little more "bigness" to this mountain but it's not bad. The views of Lake Winnepesaukee are spectacular. Unfortnately most of the trails off the quad were a bit scrapey.

If you're looking for a "rap/hip-hop" type of thing that doesn't sound like ANYTHING else, I strongly reccomend Jurassic 5. I fucking love 'em, and I, like you, traditionally HATE hip hop/rap shit.
