Alright, settle in, this is going to be a long one, I'll try for more photos than words to keep everyone awake through it.
For any non members reading, this is a NSFW blog, it's gonna have boobies, butts, all of those wonderful things, you've been warned.
My weekend began on Wednesday the 16th when @emmameow and @luie1992 flew into Melbourne. We had dumplings for dinner and had a really chill night, just catching up properly since the Brisbane Shootfest back in May. The next morning was pretty early, we were off to Castlemaine with @shark for the day (about 1.5 hours drive from Melbourne) so that @shark and @emmameow could work with legendary Giuseppe Dante Sapienza, never heard of him? look him up, he's an incredible fashion photographer. his instagram is gdantesapienza.
Our original shoot place was no longer accessible when we got there, super disappointing, but we settled for my second favourite place we scouted in town.
I sat back and let the master shoot, I took a couple of photos film and digital, but I mostly goofed off with @luie1992 and tried to stay out of sight from nearby workers.
everybody meet @luie1992/Llewellyn. @emmameow told me before I met him how amazing she thinks he is, she's been a different kind of girl since he's been in her life, and I was very very interested to finally meet him and interrogate him in private. ;D
Thankfully for Emma, he passed all tests.
I approve, they can live happily ever after if they like, I think he already knows I'm the type of person to beat him senseless with my kilos and kilos of camera gear if he ever makes her cry. So there's that.
here's one of the final images Guiseppe came up with, and if you look really closely to the left, (SG pixelates blog photos to all hell) you can see me and Llewellyn gas-bagging in the corner like a pair of old nosy ladies with nothing better to do.
Sorry for the photobomb Guiseppe.
Here's a few other photos from that little trip before I move onto the next day! I threw on one of @shark 's old film camera lenses onto my Canon 5D with a converter, and got some pretty cool results. I've decided I hate manual focus though.
The weather took a turn, so for the rest of the afternoon we drove back to Melbourne and hung out at Giuseppe's studio.
and here's just one of the images from the studio by Guiseppe, you'll have to go and suss out everyone's pages to find more, I could be here all day posting his work. incredible stuff.
Friday the 18th was another early morning for us, we headed off to Daniel's (@captureofcthulhu) shoothouse in Richmond so that Emma could shoot her first SG set for the weekend. Emma and I met Daniel over a year ago when I went up to the Sunshine coast for my first solo shootfest (I'm due for another solo shootfest soon). That time we were in a pine forest in the rain... The conditions weren't ideal, but there were some siiiick images to come from that, so I was super keen to see more of Daniel's natural light portraits for SG.
and then I snuck off with Daniel's second camera with the fucking incredible 85mm 1.2 on it (I was nervous using that, if you don't know what lenses are worth, this one particular one is over $3k). I went upstairs and had a good time taking some birds eye view stuff. these ones are from my phone, but you get the idea.
I know, grow up Lizzie. ^
and there you have the world worst selfie using 4k+ of camera gear! there's a reason I'm the one behind the camera folks ;)
Daniel did a cool timelapse of all his shoots in that house, you can check out the video below!
After we left Daniel's house, and after @emmameow had a moment choking on a sour strawberry strap, the three of us (Emma, Llewellyn and I) made tracks to meet up at @vorpal's cute little place they got right in the centre of the city.
It was a gorgeous place, and it was a really good time to see Emma and Vorpal finally meet after a long two years!
After heaps of catching up, it got right down to business, and @vorpal shot her very first SG set of Emma while I shouted instructions down from the top of the coffee table while I was on reflector duty.
Thank you to Llewellyn, Caleb and @peggysue for these images, I'm not sure where I've stolen them from anymore! haha.
I can't wait to see the edited product from these guys, I was so proud of her!!
After a short break, I took a few photos of @emmameow and @vorpal together, sadly it's not a multi, maybe next time!
I kind of wish we had gone through with a whole multi, but I'm happy to settle with these for a warm up!
@vorpal and I weren't meant to shoot a single set until Sunday at my Shoothouse, but while we were mucking around with her bunny ears, she got 100% into it and told me I better start taking pictures.
So we did, and she became my first set for the Melbourne Shootfest weekend!
I've got this set ready for editing - they're all ready now, all they need is final photoshop touch ups! I feel super organised this time round! a really really nice change!
We all stuck around and hung out for a few hours catching up, trading sets and discussing the following night, the Ball!
I kissed this cutie goodnight, and Emma, Llewellyn and I made tracks back home.
It was another early morning on Saturday for us.
I don't like mornings, I'm really not a morning person. So three in a row was not ideal.
But it was the beginning of my official shoots for the shootfest, so grumbling and headaches aside, I got over it and focussed on the next few days ahead.
The morning started in the CBD at @sirenn's place where we shot a Jurassic Park themed set which I'm SO excited to finish. The lighting in there was perfect. And some small facts for you, but last year the VERY SAME room was rented and used to shoot @emmameow's set with @exkyu 'Owl and Finch' and @opheliah's 'Blue Ivy'
I'm still laughing, I was so jealous last time I didn't get to shoot in there, and I got my wish a year later! haha!
So here's a couple of previews of @sirenn, she hasn't seen all of these either... sneaky sneaky I know, I hope you like them!
.... I know right. She's bound to go pink at some point or another, she's been a busy bee shooting sets all this year, surely one of them will be bought soon. (please be one of mine! haha!)
The day took a turn after this once @emmameow, @luie1992 and I realised we had gotten a shitty little parking fine. ugh!!!
But then it improved by a million when we picked up the keys to my house for the next few days.
First of all I had a heart attack when I realised I knew the owners. Funnily enough we all used to go to church together about 10 years ago. I outgrew religion when I was young, maybe 9 or 10. So I hadn't seen them since then. The owner did press and enquire what site we all knew each other from, so I did tell her it was for Suicide Girls.
I was quite nervous she was going to go off at me, it's extremely common for anyone not knowing what it is to fly off the handle. Sure the 'nude sets' part of Suicide Girls can arguably be classified as porn, but for me, for us, it's so much more than that. My closest friends have come from this site, it's like The Butterfly Effect... I think about what my life would be like if I hadn't fallen into the SG community... and all these aspects of my current life just suddenly don't exist anymore. I can't imagine it being like that. It's been my world.
So yeah, Theresa & fam, if you come across this blog, I hope you don't think I'm ex Christian child; now shooting porn, in your house... I never intended that to work out that way. You have a lovely house, and I promise we were all very respectful, and my sets are very much more artistic nude than trashy nude.
I guess you'll see for yourselves if you go as far to get a membership to see the sets come out in 4-8 months from now... Sorry.
Now that's out of the way, here's some photos of the house!
this was my room for the weekend! I was not expecting to get the master bedroom! ^
ensuite off the master bedroom.. heated tiles, and it's also a steam room...... ^
and you would've thought I would've pieced it together I knew the owners, considering that artwork is a portrait of their daughter who was close to my age, who I spent every Sunday with as a kid....idiot..
I didn't shoot any sets in here :(^
and the entire family portrait hanging in the dining room. another clear hint that went straight over my head... oops.
So the keys were handed over, and we were left to our own devices. I only had time to shoot three sets before the Ball that evening. @victory arrived and her shoots began too, I'm not too sure what she was up to, I had my hands full!
First up was @morgull who I've worked with once before at the Brisbane shootfest. Her floral lingerie only really matched the master bedroom, everywhere else kind of clashed. So here's a couple from that!
they uploaded in the wrong order.. I'm rushing this blog a bit to get it done, so that will do! ee!
Next up was first time shooting with @cherrybuttonz, a huge honour for me! I've been dying to work with her since forever. Dancers are my favourite to work with, they don't ever need me to tell them to point their toes, ahaha.
We did a shower set, poor Cherry hadn't washed her hair in 5 days due to needing it for performances, so we took advantage of the fact she really, really needed to wash that hair, and she had just come from a tattoo appointment for a cute arm tattoo, so that was needing a clean too. A shower set was the natural choice for us.
And last shoot for the Saturday was stunning @arcadia, her first set (by yours truly) went into Members Review just two hours ago, don't forget to check Lapis Lazuli out before you log off!
@arcadia and I chose the master bedroom again to shoot in, I knew there was going to be a couple of double up's, so that was fine for me! The light in there was incredible anyway, I only needed one extra light.
This set is already fully edited and I gave it back to her last night, I gave back 72 images and somehow we have to take out 12 images. TWELVE. I don't even want to think about it. it's too difficult.
And then it was time to get ready for the ball!
@shark came over and we all got ready together and got an Uber over to the venue, all dressed to the goth theme.
It was a good time, I had a few drinks and actually found myself too drunk at one point, so then it was sober up time so I would survive the next two days.
without getting far too into detail with everyone I met at the Ball, I'll just let these photos speak for themselves.
Power couple @exkyu and @countessa, pretty well gutted I didn't get to see these guys for more of the trip. I'm so used to shooting in the same house as them that we'd never had to deal with organising to see each other till now!
the legendary @thefuckoffkid, previous admin of SGAU, he inspires the inner "fuck off' attitude in me since becoming an admin myself for SGAU early in the year. thanks for blinking, really ruined our moment together :'(
I got to meet @sunflower finally! and I felt like I had known her for years already!
Miss @vorpal won best dressed at the ball, shame you can't see her Black Queen of Hearts outfit proper!
The brisbane power couple @frankndame and @trickett, these guys rule my photographic world, I aspire to be as good as these guys, seriously.
During the performances, @vorpal called myself, @emmameow and @peggysue up onstage, and then later Caleb. We were all asked "Vorpal" questions, and our reward for getting it right was one HELL of a lapdance. Seriously! It was incredible, best night of my life even, hahaha.
I was a little drunk here, there was lots of drunk clapping from me through this event.
This is my phone wallpaper, yes, actually. ^
Unreal, what a night. Special mention to @gotham for looking so fabulous, to DJ @christina for some amazing tunes and absolutely everyone on the committee who helped this come together, all the donated prizes - everything. I could be here forever thanking everyone. And also I finally got to meet my would-be soulmate @augustus_winchester if he wasn't already engaged to the incredible @marialauriejupiter. Super keen for photo hangs with both those babes soon ;)
This page is now lagging because there's so many photos here, and we still have two days of shoots to go, wow.
Getting right into it then! Thanks to @shark I ended up having less than 2 hours sleep because we couldn't stop talking after the Ball.
We see each other multiple times a week, you'd think we would've known better...
So what did 1.45 hours of sleep eventuate into you ask?
Here we go.
First up Sunday morning at 8am was @channy, our third time working together!
We came up with this in the tv room!
Afterwards we sat back on the couch, and I joked about calling the set 'Taking The Mickey'
We laughed so hard and then realised we actually loved it, it's got more than one meaning you see...?
Next up was a chilled bedroom set with @emmameow, if I'm counting correctly, this was our seventh set together. Wow yeah that's right actually. We haven't submitted half the shit we've shot together actually. we settle for nothing less than perfection.
This set is called Josie, check it out!
this one goes down as my favourite set I've shot to date. Seriously. I know that's a big call, but I'm making it.
Next up was my fifth time working with my old high school girlfriend @angelgore, and if this new set doesn't do the trick, we're both fucking off, she deserves to be bought fair and square.
I deliberately tried to line the chandelier up with her head like a crown for that shot ^ haha. she's a queeen <3
Next up was my second set in the bathroom, and second time working with goddess @delilahjayne! We sailed our way through this set, with only a small interruption at the start by @exkyu and @countessa literally popping their heads in to say hello!
They both had a go on the piano too!
And the previews of DelilahJayne:
It gets pretty raunchy, steamy, if you will ;)
haha sorry I've been writing this blog for over an hour now, starting to lose it a little with all the lagging.
Next up @vorpal and I were due to shoot another set, but we settled for taking some photos for fun in the main bathroom, so here;s one from that.
Next up was my one and only shoot near the piano! @fatum were ultra careful with it, I had my microfibre cloth at the ready to remove all finger/boob prints afterwards too. I came prepared. Very keen to finish this set, it's got some of my fave portraits in it!
And this led to my last set for the day, of gorgeous @sunflower!
We shot in the tv/lounge room and really changed it up in there. I honestly feel that this one is Set of the Day material. And I'll tell you what, in the time it's taken me to put this blog together, I probably could've finished it entirely! haha!
and that wrapped up Sunday!
well... kind of ....
That night I was also approved to shoot Circa Survive and PVRIS live at 170 Russell St, so Emma and Llewellyn drove me right there, I could've cried from happiness at their kindness, I was heading towards delusion town by that point. But if you know anything abou tme, you'll know that Music Photography is my first love, it's one of the things I live for, honestly.
I somehow shot the gig without any issues, and edited as much of it as I could for the 48hr deadline.
I'd love to link to the whole gallery, but I can't find it, don't think it's up yet :(
I was picked up and as soon as I got home I went through all the motions, upload photos, charge batteries, begin culling.
I'm not sure what hour it was that I collapsed into that cloud of pillows on the 4-poster bed, but it was the best moment of my life. What seemed like minutes later, my alarm was going off for the last two shoots of the weekend.
Up first was trooper @peggysue who braved the early start, and honestly, it was worth it. the photos are looking amazeballs.
.... yeah, I know right. she's pretty well the definition of perfect.
and lucky last was with @tonks! we put together a bit of a racey set, I really dig it so far.
And that's it! I'm going to end it on my favourite photo of me in the house, a random candid by @emmameow which I really love, haha. how vain of me I know.
Huge thank you to @emmameow @luie1992 and @victory for sharing the house with me, it was honestly the house of my dreams and I'm so excited to finish up all these sets and get them out for everyone to see!
Till the next shootfest!
