So I came home last night--not too shitfaced--and go to check my SG because it's all new and exciting and plus I check these things compulsively (just ask the guys at MySpace) and my roomate slouches over, looks down, and goes, "Are you on there now?!?" and I go, "Yeah almost." and he goes "Oh dear. You're making money for Republicans." and I go, "Whatever." and he goes, "No, really, I'll forward you the links." and I go, "I think that shit a mostly rumors started by people who are just mad that they didn't think of SG first. Plus, I asked Missy about the stuff that I had heard, and she had good answers for all of my questions," and he goes, "I would love to be proven wrong, that's all I have to say."
He didn't forward me any links, but he asserts that Missy is just a front, and some guys own the site that are from Playboy or something and then I sort of quit listening because it all devolved into wierd quasi-feminazi cliches that sound really strange coming from a hardcore punk who has worked in theatres all his life and supported some pretty exploitative art in his time...
Now, obviously I got right with my feelings about feminism, art, the body, and the exploitation of all three a long time ago, or else I wouldn't be on the site, so that's not what I want to talk about.
What I am curious about are the origins and ownership of this site, and any whys and wherefores that may make me feel like I really am *gasp!* "making money for Republicans"...or the ethical equivalent of that minus the actual, you know, those guys.
Anybody got any clues? I am sure that all of this info is out there, possibly even on the SG site somewhere. Would someone kindly direct me to it?
In the meantime, I must motivate to prep my house for a party tonight. Maybe I will post pics next week... I know you are on the edge of your seat. You should be.
btw: All music suggestions have been gleefully downloaded (but not stolen!) and generally enjoyed. Thanks!
