We tried out a 2nd guitar player the other night. I think he's the guy. I think he's the right decision, and it's the right time to bring on another guitar player. Chris has been writing all the music for 2 years, and he's a little burned out. On the other hand, you listen to most of our songs, and it's obvious that 1 guy wrote everything, and a lot of it follows his non-structure. This new guy Jesse, whom we won't officially offer the job to until Sunday, is a good mix of old and new influences. His favorite band is Pantera. He learned one of our songs and recorded an acoustic version of it in 12 hours. He's easy to get along with, if not high strung, and the worst that happens is we have to shoot him with a tranquilizer dart at the end of our shows. He may add a little bit more structure to our songs, a little bit of needed repetition.
In other news, Vespera's set that we submitted the other day was rejected. I'm not claiming that it's the greatest set ever photographed, or that it's the most original, or that I'm the best photographer - because I'm not - I'm just a guy with a camera who has a good eye. But it stands up with some of the other hopeful sets. I've seen one or two hopeful sets that made me wonder how they got on the site at all. We shot another one the other day, so we'll see how this works out.
