Oooh! Excitement! A new blog! So, I finally saw NIN for the first time last night. It was beginning to seem like the cursed show, seeing as three people bailed on going with me. I can't blame one of them; his job screwed him over. The other two were girls that I was involved with at one point or another. Their loss. Anyway, the concert was pretty damn cool. We missed most of Bauhaus because I overslept (getting up at 4am is a bitch, I needed a nap to feel pretty again), but we were in time for all of NIN's show.
I almost ran into some drama trying to get in the gate. Lady at the gate: "Ooh, you have spiky things on your collar and your boots. I don't know if we can let you in. Can you take them off?" Me: "Not if you want my boots to stay on." Seriously, have they had incidents at shows like these where people take off their collars, and use them to beat other people down? Fortunately the older guy working the gate with her told her to let it ride, so I mosied on in. The funny thing was that after all that, they didn't even bother to check my pockets or anything, so I could have been carrying a switchblade, or a tazer, or a ham sammitch or something and they would never have known.
The band started around 9:30ish, and we were pretty damn close to the stage. Not too shabby for $55 tickets. It surprisingly wasn't very crowded down in the pit, and I was only about 15-20 feet from the stage. They played a pretty good mix of old and new stuff, and a good time was had by all. No drama, no fights, no nothin'. I was a little disappointed at how short their set was- they only played for about an hour and a half, with no curtain call or anything. "Head Like A Hole" ended, and they were out like Ellen DeGeneres. Oh well, it was still fun, and considering that they probably won't be on tour again for another 5 years or so, I'm glad I went.
I could bore you with more anecdotes and such from the concert, but I need to get off my ass and go be productive. Lots of shit to do today since I'm having a housewarming party/barbeque/drunken orgy at my place this weekend.
