Ok kids, I need some advice:
My roomate has recently moved out, leaving just my boyfriend and I to live in our apartment. I really didn't want her to leave at all, as I love her very much and consider her my friend. She asked to leave her cat with us 3 weeks ago for just one week as she was coming up the next weekend and would take her home (back to her parents house) when the weekend was over. Well the weekend came and went, which was a huge disaster (See previous journal entry) Anyway, so she skipped out on Monday while I was still at work and even though quidam, my boyfriend reminded her to pay her portion of the rent (she signed a year lease and had no intentions of going home when she signed it. Had she told us she might leave in a couple months, we never would have moved in with her in this apt. b/c we can't afford it just the two of us), and to take Roxy (her cat). Well she skipped out, didn't pay her portion of the rent, didn't take her cat and now won't answer any phone calls.
I don't know what to do. She signed a year lease, and her parents made her go home. I can't afford this apartment without her, and I don't think I should just let it go because she did sign a lease for a whole year, she did tell us she was going to be here for a whole year, etc. I don't know what to do with her cat. It poops on our floor, wrecks everything, and I plain can't afford HER cat anymore. As far as finding a new roomate, we haven't been able to find anyone that likes cats, and we have three. She loves (loved I guess) animals and was tickled to be moving into the "pussy apartment". Finding a new roomie hasn't proved to be working so far.
Everyone so far has told us to take her to small claims court. How can I do that? She is my friend (well was). She certainly isn't treating me like her friend right now. What do I do with her cat? I can't afford that either, it's doing odd things b/c it misses her. She won't answer phone calls, or return messages.
So any advice? Do I take her to small claims court because she signed a year lease? Do I bring her cat somewhere or try to find someone to take it? Do I just let this all go and get evicted while letting someone else's animal shit on my bed?
If you read this roomie I have some advice for you. Figure out the people in your life that are important to you and stop shitting on them. You are important to me and I would never shit on you in this way. If I didn't have the money to pay for rent, I would at least have the common courtesy to give you a call and say "Hey roomie, I am sorry I can't pay the rent right now, I can send $100 and I'll pay it when I have the chance." or "Hey roomie, I am returning your call because I love you. Thank you for taking care of my cat." Even though this is causing me a lot of trouble and possibly more in the future, I still love you, but please answer your fucking phone.
