My mother-in-law lives with us; she has Alzheimer's, and her condition is getting worse week by week. She is (fortunately) no-where near as bad as not being able to recall who we are, or needing to be spoon-fed, but this week her level of wandering really kicked up a lot and when she wants to go out, it's hard to even slow her enough to get shoes on her. We've had professional day-time companions for about 3 weeks; we had to up them to 6 hours a day (about $3000/month!) this week: that helped calm her down somewhat, but for example this morning she wanted to go out again only about 15 minutes after coming back from a long walk. Even the really compassionate companion we lucked into is getting stressed by it... my spouse is getting close to breaking
