Hello, Starlings!
Oh wow, so sorry it's been much too long since I've blogged. A lot has been going on, but all good things.
In fact, "good" in an understatment....I'd say...SPECTACULAR is a better approach.
I do believe I have found my life-path, friends. It's a little thing called, hula hooping, and ever since I've started basing my life around this perfect cirlce, only wonderous things have been happening! <3
It started with applying for an instructing postion at a small studio in the city. Needless to say, I got the job. Even though classes haven't started yet, I'm exstatic to be teaching! ($30 an hour!) I teach a beginner's trick-hoop class, and a burlesque-style class (I'm sure the SG community can appriciate that!)
But that's just the beginning of the story, my darlings...After getting the job, I thought I would give vending a try. I've been making hoops and apparel fo quite some time, so I thought...why not try selling it?
The fest I sold my products at went amazingly well! Not only did I make $200 but I got the chance to make some awesome new friends and teach some hoopers new tricks! It doesn't stop there, though. I met a great indipendent business who was looking to start a Hoop Troupe. The people running th business are the friendliest, kindest people you could imagine, and, naturally I accepted their request to join the Troupe.
but it get better...
Practice for the Hoop Troupe was beyond incredable...I'd have to say it was one of the best nights of my life...heated warehouse, bumping loud tunes, and PLENTY of space! A hooper's dream! But what really made the night specail were the other members of the troupe, Madison ande Natalie. These are the kinds of girls you would like to carry around in your pocket. The good vibes from them brought me up so high I felt like I was on Everest. The Troupe leader, and owner of the business, is a teddy-bear (best hugger!) and seems pretty commited to getting us out there; hooping as events and festivals wherever possible. Maybe even hooping at Lalapalooza!
You'd think the blessings would stop there...BUT THEY DON'T!
The morning after, I went to another rave to vend at, and invited my troupe to come and help. Sales weren't the best, but it didn't matter to me because Natalie, Madison, and I were hooping hardcore most of the night, and getting so much positive feedback, it was like happiness was in the oxygen. Dispite the rave being paced, people divided on the dance floor so we had space to hoop. Everywhere we turned, someone was taking a video or snapping a picture.
Best part was a well-known gogo dancer knew ME by name! She was so excited to meet me, and remembered that I applied fo their gogo-hoop-troupe as well. The gogo dancers were so nice and seemed really excited to have me on board.
Next morning...
My close friend saw a video of me fire hooping (a different one from what I have uploaded here) her friend...(so my friend's friend) wants to talk to me about being a fire performer with him and his flow-art troupe! :'D
not only that...but I also got an email from a gymnastics school wanting to meet me. I might have the privilage of teaching children the joys of hooping!!! My interview is in a few hours, so I thought it would be a good idea to count my blessings before going in.
I feel like the luckies girl in the world, and even though I'm putting a effort fourth, I feel like th universe is really on my side with this. I've never felt happier or more uplifted than I do now. I thought I would just share my joy with all of you, and hopefully I can inspire you to chase your dreams, too. Because anything is possible! <3
