Well that was fun, I just spent 8 hours marching through a maze of capital gains regulations to finally finish my taxes. The bad new is I got nailed by capital gains tax. The good news is that it did not hurt too bad and I saved $300 by doing my taxes myself (with the help of turbotax).
What is funny is that the stock trades I made that did not make me much money caused me the greatest headaches properly filing them in a way the IRS and turbotax program would accept. I think I may of paid more on capital gains than I had to, but not too much more. Just happy to have this shit done!

a big chunk of a 401 rollover to pay down debt when
the job prospects were rather bleak and un-employment
was out of 1st tier and 2nd tier wasn't going to be enough
to cover the fixed expensises.
Be glad that it's done. Better a little over than not enough.
