well, I've lost another friend here. Munke has gone gray; SG just ain't what it used to be, he said. I wish people would stop doing that. I mean, I understand; but stop doing it. Online communities are like brick-and-mortar communities; if all the good folks leave, then what the hell is left? ...anyway, I guess I'll have to continue my quest to add new friends from far and wide. There are still plenty of good people here!
Oh, and another thing... it seems a lot of departures involve "find me on Facebook." Wait, what? You've had enough of this walled community, but the public shitfest of Faceplace is okay?? Fine. Whatever. I'm the opposite; I wish some of my Faceplace friends would leave there and come here.
Yaarrrrr!!
Y'know, there was a time when I updated my journal on a weekly basis, sometimes every day. I think that's the way it was for many of us, a surge of activity in the early years, then a tapering off or even a complete drop; and now we just sorta poke our heads around for a bit every once in a while and maybe leave a journal entry, maybe. I think I should return to regular updates. To coincide with recreating my old webspace, mentioned in my previous entry. I think the writing would be good for me. And maybe I'll even inspire others to return to regular activity here. That would be nice.
Speaking of nice. TheFox and I went on a date last night. We haven't been on a date in a long time. We're poor, so mostly it's just Netflix on the couch at home. Well, lately it's been me on the couch and her playing some first-person shooter online with Vampirate. ( Love you! ) Anywho, we had a rushed dinner at Mellow Mushroom, because we suck at teh time; but the food, as always, was scrumptialicious. Then we made our way to the Carolina Theatre to listen to Jane Monheit, with special guest Mark O'Connor.
I think it's funny that jazz has become something fancy that you get dressed up to go see in a restored historic venue, when it's roots were so underground, so very not mainstream. Her husband (her drummer) is covered in tattoos, though; I think that's awesome. I wanted to yell "Go, cat, go!" at him a couple of times when he started to really get into the music.
So what's new with you peeps in SG Land? (And don't tell me down below; go update your SG journal, all community-like! )

There are plenty of good newer folk around, but it's hard to keep a conversation going because most of them comment on their own blogs.
