On day 5 of a 5 day weekend... too bad it has to end. but not until tomorrow when i have to get up for work.
it's been a great weekend and busy and mellow at the same time. i'm a big clutter hound, so my big task of the weekend was to sort, throwout, and organize. i would say that i have succeeded somewhat but still have some work to do.
Thursday was a great thanksgivnig. slept in really late with my guy, gave thanks with friends and family, and ate really yummy food.
Friday i enjoyed a little post thanksgiving shopping and found some great presents for the niece and nephews. i have such a hard time choosing things for them because i am barely ever around them. my sister lives in ireland with her 3 kids and my brother lives in nyc with his boy (who has another on the way! yeah!). so, because i don't get to see them i don't know what they like day to day and what books and toys they already have. i am missing out on them growing up. sometimes that makes me very sad.
Friday also involved watching the Bulls play San Antonio - YEAH BULLS!! we beat the defending champs.
Saturday, got some organizing stuff done and then went to see Andrew Bird play at the Logan Square Auditorium. I had never seen a show there, and it was a lot better than i had thought it would be. Rooms like that are hard to set up for sound - so kudos to their sound guys, it was amazing. I went to the show with trocc, ladyk, and thedvsmonkey. sam prekop opened, who is awesome!, but, unfortunately, there was a lot of crowd noise so i didn't get to enjoy his stuff as much as i would have liked. dosh did a few instrumental songs on his own and then that led into andrew bird. dosh was playing drums and other fineries (i couldn't see all the instruments/computers/sound equipment on stage) with andrew bird. andrew bird is a newer found artist for me. i really enjoy his music on multiple levels - the lyrics are quirky and intelligent and the music leads you in one floaty direction but then can turn in a split second to something and someplace you wouldn't expect it to go. it's awesome. the show was great!! the surprise of nora o'connor on two songs was wonderful!!!
We picked up Mexican at Taco Burrito King on the way home and got to watch the Bulls beat Houston! YEAH BULLS!
sunday and today have been more of the same - cleaning and organizing and relaxing.
i have never taken a vacation where i stayed in chicago and had so many days off. it's been good to do that for myself.

no coughing brother to keep me awake, instead I have no possible way of positioning myself to get comfortable, when i get comfortable i just wind up puking. and when i do fall asleep no less than 5 minutes later something is waking me up. I can't wait to get out of here.
First thing on the agenda afte rI movce in is a party damnit.
