so tommy lee is a cool motherfucker... he hooked me up with tickets and a photopass and a shared suite to enjoy the show. i've never seen a show from a suite before it was nice.
i shot the first three songs as usual i can't wait to edit them, i have some awesome shots of nikki sixx. the smoke and fog and uplighting was a photographers wet dream come true and i was only on of 2 shooters allowed to shoot thanks to mr. lee. i couldn't have designed the lighting better myself.
i saw motely crue open for ozzy's bark at the moon tour when i was in high school. 1986. twenty god damned years yes i'm old don't be fooled by the smoke and mirrors. i told my mom i was staying at a friends hoouse and he told his parents the same and we drove an hour from hicksville to houston to see the show
it was their first big break and tour - the shout at the devil video wasn't even out on mtv yet... this was back in the day of "what the fuck is mtv?"....
so the show was very cool. 3 hours long. if you are a crue fan (i admit to being a fan of their first album still) its a great show to see - they played on and on for 3 hrs with intermission - animated shorts - juggling midgets! - pyrotechnics - bondage girls - etc etc etc.... tommy lee did some insane stuff - being pulled by a cable 70 ft into the air to play on a platform above the crowd then flying on the wire to another platform to play some more mad percussion. good times.
our friend kimberly holland (google her if you don't know) got the vip deja vu treatment and was pulled by tommy lee's "assistant" from the suite to sit backstage during the show like another blonde playmate from texas in her day...
i just turned 37. i love you guys and everyone that has ever posted or supported my work. i'm feeling very lucky and thankful to have the life i have right now. bill collectors and overdue photosets aside.
once in a while i ramble and post more than i should... i've had a drink or two
