Canada Day is a really special holiday for me. I love this country and anyone who has been here understands why. I live an hour from some of the most beautiful scenery. Im not sure how many of you know this but i am an avid mountaineer. It’s where i reset from the stresses of everyday life. For Canada Day this year @mdt and I went on a 22k hike in Yoho national park and it was stunning. Our intended destination was past Sherbrook Lake, through Niles Meadow, into Niles Amphitheater, however the water level through most of the streams was very high so one of the bridges was mostly washed out and would have been very risky to cross. So we had a picnic on the broken bridge. We will have to go back when the water level lowers to see the amphitheater in all its glory.
(Of course the best picture of us is the weird one, lol)
The crashing waterfalls were along the path the whole time and were magnificent.
Sherbrook lake was a specticular. The colour of the water was beautiful. It was lightly raining all day, which I actually quite like on a hike. It really helps to bring out the colours.
This was the bridge that was broken. On a warmer/ dryer day i might have risked it, but having already walked through one glacial stream I wasn’t up for another frozen swim. Lol
More views of Lake Sherwood.
As we got back to our car, the heavy rains descended upon us, the timing was perfect.
Just as we drove into banff for some food and drink the rain stopped, and we were blessed with a beautiful sunset.
I am so fortunate to live in such a beautiful country, and that is what I celebrate on Canada Day.
Would you guys like more blogs of my hikes in the future? I have HUNDREDS of hiking photos. 😁
