after seeing some "zine" out here called "lucky" display a little, two-paged article on suicidegirls i'd have to say i enjoyed everything except the comment:
"they all have impeccable taste in music except the one's who are over-keen on billy corgan."
now, ms. holly c., i can't help but feel this is a personal attack.
being a smashing pumpkins fan is now considered a guilty pleasure by alot of people and i assume that's because they're commercial because that's obviously a big fucking NO-NO. the band offered me alot of emotional nourishment as a teenager and that's something that follows you into adulthood.
why should we be ashamed for what we love? if anything, i find quirky guilty pleasures endearing... as long as they aren't taking over your musical tastes completely or something.. like, you love barbra striesand but you can still get into the new whatever and not because it reminds you of "hello, dolly."
in spirit of this new revelation to accept and appreciate ourselves as we are (god, what a breakthrough, right?) let's all name our guilty pleasures (but...they aren't guilty pleasures anymore because we should never feel guilty about what we love!!)
mine:
the smashing pumpkins? jimmy eat world, and almost all speed garage and old whistle blowing-jump-up drum and bass. ooh! also, dee-lite!
