Once a year I make a trek to the UMDNJ in bee-you-tee-full Newark NJ for my yearly evaluation as a post-op liver transplant patient. I dread this day for weeks ahead of time, for reasons I cannot easily fathom. I mean, it's a total of about five hours from when I leave my house until I return. I irrationally fear my car will break down in one of the scarier sections of Newark. In any case, yesterday was my day. It went well, though my regular doctor has retired so now I will have a new one, which is OK. I am also hitting the ten year mark, which was explained to me in a confusing matter. It would seem I would need less attention, yet it seems like that means actually having more bloodwork done (by a factor of 8) and I need to go back in December (six months). So I am confused. As anyone with a long-term illness can attest, a lot of info gets thrown at you in a short time, and you do your best to retain the salient points.
In any case, since last year, I have lost 25 pounds. So that was an ego boost. 25 more to go (or so). I plan to try and drop it between now and my next visit. Good to have goals.
Nine Inch Nails tickets on sale today. Here's hoping that it is not a painful process to procure myself a ticket.
