Stupid Pink-Eye. I had it once as a kid when I was seven and not again until almost thirty years later. I have it right now, and if I am correct, I have had it consecutively for the past four years, always in either April or May. I should Web MD it. It must have something to do with allergies (pollen and such), which also never used to bother me until my late twenties. Sucks getting old. Add in a compromised immune system and daily doses of pills designed to weaken my immune system further and you get a recipe for being mildly sick all the time. Not complaining, since the alternative is death, but it still can be annoying. Plus, Pink Eye is GROSS, nothing like waking up at 3AM to the feeling that your eyes are glued shut with some sort of pus/mucous paste. Bleck. Today's bout with Pink Eye is causing me to miss seeing Social Distortion tonight, which sucks. Last year I missed Ringo Starr due to an infection that put me in the hospital. I have a roster of concerts this summer. I am hopeful this will be the only one I am forced to miss. I am seeing: Weezer, Paul Simon, The Go Gos, The Monkees, U2, The Beach Boys, and They Might Be Giants. I know, all old (or old-ish) bands. I should try to cultivate some new artists. But the fogey in me hates the way most new music sounds. Too computer-y and produced for my liking. I apologize for coming across as a curmudgeon in this post. I figure I have a good ten years left before I am officially a cranky old man.
