I just watched an amazing movie "Tibet: Cry of the Snow Lion". Its a very moving documentery, in fact it made me cry.
I hadn't known all the facts and issues which were presented in this film. I knew some, but definately this was an eye opener. I highly recommend this movie to everyone!
If you're interested, there is lots of current information regarding the Tibetan peoples present day plight, on the internet. Such information as:
In 1995, the Dalai Lama appointed a 6 year old boy from Tibet as the Panchan Lama (revered tibetan religious figure who will someday appoint the next Dalai Lama). Very soon after, the boy and his family were abducted by the Chinese. To this day, no one has seen him. Instead, the Chinese have appointed a different boy as the Panchan Lama! In September 2005 the UN human rights commision requested from China, independent access to the boy. However, China claims that the boy is leading a normal life, he is well, and does not want to be disturbed. To this day, no one really knows the current safety of the child.
This is Unbelievable!
Anyways, there is more information, but I'll let you research if you're interested.
The movie was good..to say the least
