Oh no! Its going to be tomorrow in less than 3 hours!
So, those of you who work retail know what that means. It's unspeakable, the cruelty in making good, hard-working people (and some inept assholes, too) get up at the crack of dawn and slave in the name of Lower Prices.
Yes, Lower Prices. Lower Prices and Special Deals. Doorbusters. Early Birds. They're all villains in the world of retail.
In all seriousness though, at least I'm not one of the suckers who's opening this year, or in the case of Corey, already beginning the dreaded shift that will lead into the Unspeakable Day. Or my friend Kim, who's going to brave the crowds starting 2 hours from now (the mall opens at Midnight, as it has the last 3 years).
I go in at 11am. See the method to my madness?
Most of the shopping done by customers will be done in between the hours of 4am and 1pm at my store. So, while I'll be getting there at the height of business, I'll (hopefully) be fresh as a daisy and ready to take on the 11 hour shift I've been scheduled. Let's hope this change I've made from the last 6 years working the early morning shift during Black Friday will prove to be more tolerant.
Wish me luck. And for those who also work retail on this day, best of luck to you as well.
To those who managed to have off for this day...today and today only, I hate you.
