Alright, kids. I'm going to give you a little motivation here.
A friend of mine wanted me to talk to a friend on their's. She's depressed and at the end of her rope. The girl, I really feel, was on the brink of suicide...and I have no doubt in my mind she'd have done it. I talked to her, cuz I care. You should care about the other people out there, no matter how full your plate is, no matter what you have going on in your life. You should care, dammit. I care about this total stranger. A life is a life, my friends. You don't often see a chance to save one. Granted, its not as dramatic as CPR of taking a bullet meant for someone else like on television, but just talking to them...relating...you are saving a life. You're opening a path of communication that didn't exist before with that person.
I talked to her for three hours while my friend sat back and opined when needed. He did right, since he wasn't necessarily the one to speak these things to her. He did right by bringing her to talk to someone who's been there. When life just seems so hopeless that the only way out is to stop living it. Guess what? Its NOT THE WAY. And I made her realize that, I'm sure of it. You could look in her eyes and see a new vitality. She wanted to live inside, I really believe that. I think all of us do, deep down inside, we just have to capture that feeling, even if someone else has to make us realize it.
So I'm going to challenge you all. Go out there, make the world a better fucking place. Tell someone that they're awesome. Tell someone that you don't even know, "Hey, you're pretty cool." It goes a long way, those simple words, that simple act. You don't have to be Christian, Buddhist, whatever. All you have to be is HUMAN. A good and decent person cares, no matter what. I believe that there are many of you who do, you're just averse to saying it. Well, you're not. Realize that. Make it happen. Tell someone that you care about that they're awesome...or better yet, someone you happen to encounter, a total stranger, and strike up a conversation. Let them know they're worth taking a minute out of your busy schedule for them.
That girl walked away feeling like she was worth something. If you were them, wouldn't you want the same thing? You know you would. So do the same for others.
I have mad love for you all, whether I know you or not. And if any of you, even you newbies on the site who just happen upon this blog...I got you. Just PM me. I'll listen, no matter how crazy you think you would be by doing so.
Ciao, paisanos. Love you big time.
